How firm is it?

On its own it is a 1 on our 1–5 scale, one of our firmest. A Premier Natural Pillowtop Pad adds surface plushness while keeping the firm support.

Which pillowtop pad goes with it?

Any of our Premier Natural Pillowtop Pads, from 2″ to 5″. The 2″ pad is our usual recommendation.

What does it use as a flame barrier?

French wool, which acts as a natural fire barrier. Our untreated French wool is washed only with water and baking soda.

How is it different from the Natural Cotton w/ Wool Wrap?

Both are built from layers made with organic cotton, wrapped in French wool. The Premier version has a cover made with organic cotton and our Royal-Flex 800i innerspring; the Natural version has a brushed canvas cover and our Royal-Flex 650i innerspring.

How often should I flip it?

It is two-sided. Turn it head to foot one month and flip it over the next.

How deep should my fitted sheets be?

Choose fitted sheets with a pocket depth of about 12″. The mattress is about 9.5″ tall, and the extra depth lets the sheet tuck securely underneath. With the Premier Natural 2″ Pillowtop Pad (about 11.5″ in all), choose about 14″.

Royal-Flex 800i coils are wrapped in hand-tufted layers made with organic cotton and French wool, creating a firm, two-sided orthopedic mattress that is most often paired with a Premier Natural Pillowtop Pad. Handmade to order in Los Angeles.

The Premier Natural Cotton w/ Wool Wrap Mattress features our Royal Flex 800i Innerspring Unit wrapped in layers made with pristine organic cotton and French wool, and surrounded by luxurious fabric made with organic cotton, and hand tufted resulting in an orthopedic firm mattress.

To add surface plushness, we recommend one of our Premier Natural Pillowtop Pads made with organic cotton fabric quilted with all-natural French wool, and a layer of all natural Talalay latex for added cushioning and comfort. The Premier Natural Pillowtop Pad come in 2″, 3″, 4″, or 5″ versions. The 3″, 4″, and 5″ versions have surface quilting on both sides, so you can flip it over and use the other side.

The Double Diamond Box Spring supports the mattress and provides an extra layer of suspension for increased comfort. The center-third of the box spring contains 50% more modules to add extra support where it’s needed the most. 5-Star hotel grade wide slatted wood frame provides greater durability. Even the box spring is wrapped and padded in fabric and layers made with organic cotton and all-natural French wool.

Luxurious fabric covering, made with organic cotton, promotes natural airflow to help regulate body temperature for more comfortable sleep. Woven on precision computerized looms, the fabric is produced to exacting specifications, ensuring consistent quality, durability, and a smooth, refined feel night after night.

Hand tufting pre-compresses the mattress layers to enhance orthopedic support and minimize body impressions over time. Using a long tufting needle and traditional British tufting straps, Royal-Pedic has practiced true hand tufting since 1946—a defining hallmark of authentic handcrafted mattress construction.

Surrounding the inner layers of padding is a protective layer of French wool, which acts as an all natural fire barrier, as well as helping to ventilate body heat and maintain a dry sleeping environment. The untreated French wool is washed only with water and baking soda, and the sheep free graze on open plains and hillsides in France.
